Little Athletes

Classroom: Sapitos

Blog Title: Summer Camp

Weekly Feature Theme: Little Athletes

Week: July 30th, 2018 to August 3rd, 2018

What we are learning?
Dear Parents,
We hope you are having a beautiful week. This week children will enjoy being little athletes and discover interesting things about the Olympics games. Our goal is to encourage students to continue developing important values such as friendship, teamwork, solidarity and respect, to inspire healthy habits through sports and exercises and to explore interesting facts about sports.
We have scheduled learning activities related to this theme to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills so children can continue learning through experiences such as:

·         Creating our own Olympics banners and rings.

·         Working on creating our Olympics torch.

·         Participating in our Olympics Games.

Thank you for letting us play such an important role in your child’s life and we hope you have a great weekend.

Dress Code

·         Have your child from Sapitos A wear an ORANGE t-shirt and Sapitos B wears a PURPLE t-shirt. Make sure to bring extra clothing for Friday as well since children will be changed after the Olympics.

Friendly Reminders

·         Wash your hands and your child’s hands when entering the classroom and help your child to find his/her seat.

·         Read your child’s journal, blogs, and Friday Newsletter. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us in case you have any comment or any question about your child’s development or any notes/comments made in your child’s journal.

·         Avoid bringing your child with items that can cause distraction such as toys, necklaces, bracelets, watches, etc. This is needed to help him/her concentrate on the scheduled activities at school.

·         Label all your child’s clothing and items and make sure that your child has an extra set of clothing that is appropriate to weather in his/her cubby.

·         Make sure to remove clothing from the cubby and just leave one set of clothing and a blanket for nap time.

·         Make sure to take the blanket home on Fridays for laundry and bring it back on Monday.

·         Make sure to have enough pull-ups or diapers in the cubby for the day if your child has not been potty-trained yet.

·         If your child is bringing a lunch box, please label it with your child’s name and date and drop it in the kitchen.

·         Do not bring your child to school if the child has a fever of over 101F or any contagious conditions.

·         Apply sunscreen to your child every morning.

·         Make sure to keep in your child’s cubby a pair of glasses and a summer hat.

·         Have your child wear a swimsuit, splashers or swim diapers and water shoes for Splash Day. Make sure to send a towel and a tote bag for wet items. Label and pack all these items in the tote bag.

·         Sunscreen and mosquito repellant are important to protect your child because he/she is very susceptible to sunburn/mosquito bites. Yet applying sunscreen and mosquito repellent to your child requires planning. If sunscreen and mosquito repellent must be applied to your child, make sure to fill out an administration or authorization form specifying when sunscreen and mosquito repellent should be applied and be sure to supply the sunscreen and mosquito repellant, label the bottles with your child's name and place them in a tote bag.
