Classroom: SapitosBlog Title: How I grow and changeWeekly Feature Theme: Stages of GrowthWeek: September 9th, 2019 to September 13th, 2019

What are we learning?
Dear Parents,

We hope you are having a wonderful week. Due to current weather conditions, we have to cancel our Grandparents Celebration scheduled for Friday, September 6th, 2019. However, we would like to inform you that we have rescheduled our Grandparents Celebration for next Friday, September 13th, 2019. All of you are welcome to join us!

This week we will learn a new theme called how I grow and change, and we will be discussing the different stages of growth. This topic will provide knowledge of the stages of growth and development in humans. Our goal is to acknowledge the characteristics, similarities and differences of the human development stages and promote respect for others.

Children will discover, identify, and compare how they have grown since they were babies. We will also observe how the babies crawl, the children run, and the adults walk.

We have scheduled exciting activities related to this theme so children can continue learning through fun experiences. Each one of these activities will help to continue strengthening gross and fine motor skills, language and socio-emotional skills.

·         Monday - Infancy
o    Remember, when I was a baby.
§  Ask children to bring baby pictures to create a collage for the school hall.
§  Create a collage with baby pictures from our administrative staff.
o    Learn about babies and their care.
o    Provide a brief description of what they see in the photos. Guess who is in the pictures!
·         Tuesday - Childhood
o    Learn about me as a child; i.e., what are my likes and preferences, what is my weight and height, etc.
o    Create a self-portrait like Leonardo da Vinci.
·         Wednesday - Adulthood
o    Learn about the characteristics of early and late adulthood.
o    Understand that Grandparents also need care and love.
·         Thursday - Stage of Development & Growth Art Project

·         Friday - Weekly Review & Special Project

Year-Round Activities
Student of the Week & Traveling Pet

Please make sure to sign up your child for these beautiful activities as these 2 are the children's favorites! These activities allow every child to create and share memories with their classmates. Student of the week will run from August through January and Traveling Pet from January to the end of the School Year.

As you know, every week, a child is given a set week that he/she is the student of the week. On Monday of their week, the student of the week should bring a poster and a book created with family pictures, favorite books, sports, hobbies, animals and other interests. Parents will pick a day to present a banner to the classroom. The student of the week may also bring favorite toys and books to school so they can share with classmates.

As for the Traveling Pet activity, the classroom pet will spend a whole week with the child and family. During that week, parents and the child will have fun together with a new member of the family while providing love and care to the pet. Our pet loves to read at night, go to the park, visit museums, give hugs and kisses! However, the pet does not like taking a bath as he can get sick. Parents and children will enjoy bonding time and making new memories, and the child will be very excited to share all the memories with his/her classmates. In their week, parents and the child should bring a collage of pictures and a written paper containing a brief description of what they did with the pet. Parents should make sure to place the collage inside the traveling pet bag.

Sign up for both activities today! Sign-up sheets are available at the entrance of the classroom.
